Our take
I've been using the MCX8000 for live sets and it’s a beast. The standalone capability means I don't always need a laptop, which is liberating. The 16 pads are responsive, and the built-in sound card is clean. However, it's heavy and not truly portable—more a tabletop workhorse. The lack of phono inputs limits turntable integration. For $1000, it's a solid pro controller if you value standalone operation.
